Lyn leads her stars to glory

A MIXED “Ryder Cup” hambro matchplay competition was held at Colne Valley Golf Club, with a large field taking part in the shotgun start.
Wendy Arthy captained the Europe team, with Lyn Bewley leading America.
America proved victorious and the trophy was presented to Bewley, by competition organisers Don Cutmore and Roger Cook.
Meanwhile, Colne Valley’s Winter League competition has reached the halfway stage. Four of the eight matches have been played in the preliminary round and a foursomes stableford round took place last weekend. The winners were John Crisp and Ken Poulter, with 37 points.
Second, on 36, were Mike Blinman and Tony Clark and it was Brian Swan and Kevin Ward who finished third, after scoring 35.
After the eight rounds, the top 16 pairings will go on to compete in the knockout stages.
Currently in the lead are Blinman and Clark, with 66 points. In second, a point behind, are Don Cutmore and Roger Bewley, while third spot is taken up by Sean Kelly and Mike Latta, with 57.
