Joy for Jim as Town run out comfortable winners

11:05am Friday 20th January 2012

Halstead Town boss Jim Holder admitted his side could have scored “six or seven” during their one-sided contest against Cambridge University Press.

His team ran out comfortable 2-0 winners in Saturday’s Ridgeons League division one contest at Rosemary Lane.

Jon Root and Reis Farley-Hearn netted their goals but it could, and should, have been more.

Nevertheless, Holder was just happy to pocket three more points, helping them climb to sixth in the table.

“I was extremely pleased with the performance,” said the Town boss.

“We scored two but, in truth, it could have been six or seven, because we were very dominant and created some golden opportunities.

“It means we’re now up to sixth and two points ahead of Cambridge.

“To be in a position like that is a real achievement and now we’re looking forward to the challenge of climbing even higher.

“We know it’s going to be tough, especially as we’ve got difficult games coming up against the likes of Brightlingsea and Whitton United.

“But solid performances like this give us confidence and the other pleasing thing is that everyone’s fit at the moment, so we’ve got a fully-fit squad to choose from.”
