Alderman boosts his 2012 chances
7:00am Friday 27th January 2012
Powerlifter Adam Alderman has boosted his chances of Paralympic Games selection.
The 28-year-old, from Sible Hedingham, scooped a silver medal at an IPC UK invitational tournament, held in Cardiff on Saturday.
He managed lifts of 130kg, 134kg and 136kg, competing in the 48kg class at the Sport Wales National Centre, at Sophia Gardens.
And he hopes his success will have enhanced his chances of competing in this summer’s Games in London. Dad and personal trainer Brian said: “It was a pleasing day for Adam.
“He won a silver medal after being beaten by the narrowest of margins by a Frenchman.
“Both of them managed a top lift of 136kg, but his opponent got the gold because he weighed marginally less.
“His body weight was something like one and a quarter kilos lighter, but effectively they were joint-winners."
